So looks like we’re getting our suits dusted down for a night out on Feb 11th!

As with any short film there’s a lot of hard work put in by all the crew. Many went above and beyond what was expected of them so it’s great that their work and attention to detail gets acknowledged.

Directed by James Stacey and produced by Souljacker, “Origin” has been in production since September 2010. The film was scripted by Matthew Darragh and James Stacey, with an original score by Rónán Ó Snodaigh of Kíla.

Here’s a brief synopsis – A young man is on the brink of emigration, but as he races through the streets of Dublin he comes to realise the spirit he’s leaving behind.

“Origin” is being made under the Irish Film Board’s Short Shorts scheme and will premiere on July 9th at the Galway Film Fleadh 2011.

For anybody of a technical mindset, James gave some details on the pipeline and techniques –
“Origin has been produced primarily using Maya and Mental Ray while also relying heavily on it’s compositing pipeline. The streets of Dublin have been captured using a combination of Still photographs and HD Footage. This data was then brought into Maya for 3D shot setup. From this, templates were output and then painted with good old fashioned Photoshop background painting. The templates were then projected back on to the 3D models and environments. The shots were then brought into compositing with a large number of shots composited employing projection mapping techniques’

We’re really excited to annonce that our short film “Kronos” has gotten funding thought the Arts Office in Cavan. The short will be shot in Cavan and (outside of the usual Souljacker “die hard” crew members) will also be crewed as much as possible from Cavan natives!

The premise of the short is a famine set horror that takes place across one day on a bog in the midlands. We hope to shoot in May, a mile or so from Sean’s home in Cavan – before any machinery or people start working on the bog for the summer.
So now to cast, crew and figure out FX !

Thanks to the guys at the Digital Sockets,the way television has gone these days blogs/music sites are really the only outlet for music videos. So it means a lot to win a music video award voted for by bloggers, the people who post and link to the videos.
It was great to be nominated alongside some videos we really admired in the past year.

Plus Neil Hannon was there – “Bad Ambassador” is one of Sean’s favourite music videos – The Divine Comedy are on our wishlist of bands we’d love to make a video for!

Needless to say we’re lying low today and great plans made late last night to continue celebrating tonight, have quickly been scrapped after hangovers kicked in !

We can finally reveal one of the projects we have in production at the moment.

We’re producing an animated short film called “Origin” under the Irish Film Boards “Short Shorts” scheme.
It’s directed by James Stacey and will premiere at the Galway Film Festival in July.
Production started in September, runs until May, and it’s a project we’re really excited about !!!

Plus for the techies – it’s being animated in Maya.

Just a quick note that we’re over the moon to have won in both categories we were nominated in at the IMTV Awards. We won Most Original Concept and also Music Video of the Year 2010 for Devil in the Detail. You can see the video HERE

We just finished a music video for Choice Music Prize winner Adrian Crowley !!!!

We’ve been fans of his work for a few years so it was a pleasure to work with him on this over the last few months. Shot over 2 days around the Sally Gap and the Sugar Loaf in Wicklow on the Canon 550D the 2nd day required a 4am start !!!!  (that’s apparently the time you need to get up at to get to Wicklow and shoot the sun rising ) and we got home about 11pm. We had help from Eoin – who’s helped out on every Souljacker shoot so far ! (and starred in Devil in the Detail) and from Marc McElroy with equipment

Its gotten some nice overage on blogs and sites like Nialler 9 and a nice piece about it HERE on Harmless Noise
